Remember Peter ‘the Eel’? This is what he looks like today, and this is what he does for a living.

More than ten years ago, Peter the Eel became one of the most viral figures on the internet. His slim figure and distinctive dance style catapulted him to fame in 2012 thanks to the video “Peter the Eel Style ,” a musical parody that became a hit on YouTube.

However, after that moment of popularity, his story took unexpected turns that removed him from the media spotlight. Behind the character known for his striking dance is Pedro Dayán Millán, a young Cuban who, almost without intending to, became an internet phenomenon.

Although many associate him with his humor and unique physique, his life took turns that surprised his fans. Taking advantage of his fame, Peter briefly dabbled in music, releasing songs with the same humorous tone, such as “La peluca,” “Enrola y prende,” “Peter la anguila vuelve,” and “La Peter cumbia.”

Despite his creative endeavors, his musical career was short-lived, and he failed to establish himself in the reggaeton genre or other styles. Over time, his popularity was hindered by some personal difficulties. In 2015, he faced a legal issue in Miami related to his family life, from which he was released after posting bail.

Later, in 2017, he faced justice again for an incident involving drug possession, which kept him in custody for several days. These events marked a turning point. Peter acknowledged that certain personal decisions and experiences influenced his career and personal life.

It was then that he decided to step away from the entertainment world and embark on a new career. He currently lives in Houston, Texas, where he found a more stable and focused lifestyle. Initially, he worked as a baker, specializing in preparing dough for restaurants.

Later, he trained as a barber and opened his own business. This shift allowed him to focus on his well-being and that of his family. Although he’s no longer performing, Peter maintains his connection to the digital world through platforms like TikTok and Instagram, where he shares comedy and dance videos and fondly remembers the character that made him famous.

He also leverages his social media to collaborate with brands and promote products, generating income through sponsored posts. More than a decade after the video that launched him to fame, Peter “the Eel” has managed to reinvent himself. He now leads a quieter life, focused on his family, work, and personal projects.

Although he no longer enjoys the same level of fame, he’s still remembered as one of the internet’s most iconic characters, and his story demonstrates the ups and downs of popularity in the digital age. Yes, Peter is back, but in a different way: more mature and grounded.
